A: Unfortunately, Columbia is unable to provide travel and hotel accommodations for the WISE Conference. Please see a list of nearby accommodations below. Please note that Columbia does not have a partnership with the hotels listed: Columbia accessible via Uber/Lyft (approx 7 min ride) Columbia accessible via Uber/Lyft (approx 5-10 min ride) or via the 1 train (110th Street Station) Columbia accessible via Uber/Lyft (approx 10 min ride), the M4 Bus, or the 3 train transferring to the 1 train Columbia accessible via Uber/Lyft (approx 7 min ride), the M4 Bus, or the M11 Bus
Q: Is the WISE Conference only for undergraduate students?
A: No, while the WISE conference is an opportunity for undergraduate students to learn more about Columbia Engineering's graduate programs, our conference attendees are also graduate students and professionals. We welcome anyone interested in pursuing STEM or interested in learning more about the field.
Q: Can middle or high school students attend the WISE conference?
A: No. While we would love for secondary school students to have the opportunity to learn more about opportunities in the STEM fields, unfortunately, the Columbia WISE Conference is targeted to undergraduate and graduate students who will be applying to graduate school in the next 2-3 years or working professionals. Underaged students will not be able to check in on the day of the conference.
Q: Do I have to be a STEM major or professional to attend the WISE conference?
A: No, we welcome anyone who is interested in learning more about that field to join us.
Q: Do I have to identify as a woman to attend the WISE conference?
A: No, we welcome anyone interested to learning more about STEM fields as well as learning more about the experiences and opportunities available to women in STEM.
Q: Do I need a ticket to attend the conference?
A: Yes, all attendees must have their tickets present for the conference check-in.
Q: Will all attendees receive a fee waiver for Columbia Engineering's graduate school admissions application?
A: Yes, Conference attendees will receive an application fee waiver. However, please note that you must attend the event to be eligible for a fee waiver. Attendance will be verified after the event. If you RSVP for the event but do not check-in/attend the event, you will not receive a fee waiver.
Q: When will I receive my fee waiver?
A: Fee waivers will be issued after the WISE Conference. Your attendance will be verified before a fee waiver is issued to you.
